The Flag series was born out of an obsession with the sculptural form of fabric combined with a passion for storytelling. Each flag utilized for my reference images has a history. Many were gifted to me. The Oklahoma flag flew at the State Capitol building before being decommissioned. Another was hung on a porch for many years, and one side became faded while the other side remained pristine. Most were veteran-owned. With each painting I hope to create a portrait of the flag and preserve some of its life and story eternally.
